Nowadays, women and men crave lip augmentation.

Beauty trends come and go. While only a few years ago the style was thin, minimalist eyebrows and lips, the popularity of bigger, fuller lips have increased in recent years. Naturally plumped lips are the trend, and studies have also shown that lip gloss sales have recently increased.

But what is the “go to” procedure for achieving lip augmentation? Should I get lip fillers or lip implants? The real question is, do you want a temporary or permanent solution to augment your lips?

Here are some tips that will make your lip bigger with barely do any effort

 lip augmentation

Exfoliate

This is step number one and it’s so important to lip augmentation. Before you try any other hacks, exfoliate your lips first. Flaky lips reflect less light, which means, a dry pucker could be making your lips look smaller than they actually are. To get rid of flakes, brush them lightly with a toothbrush. This also boosts circulation, giving you a rosy tint sans makeup.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Have you ever noticed that when you forget your hydro flask at home, your lips look really freaking small by the end of the day? When your body is dehydrated, your lips literally shrivel up and disappear. Make sure to drink lots of water – which, btw, is just a good life choice in general – to bring out your most luscious lip augmentation naturally (and for free).

Over-line for lip augmentation

Before Kylie Jenner surgically enhanced her lips, she used to use this trick to make them appear bigger. Now, you can’t just swipe lipstick all over your face – you’ll end up looking like a clown. The trick to lip augmentation is to put on concealer before your lip color to blur the line between your lips and your face.

Even though this makeup trick is a beauty vlogger favorite, it’s really easy to do yourself. Apply your go-to concealer to your lips, then trace slightly outside your natural lip line using a lip liner. From there, just fill in your lips with the matching lipstick.

Highlight with gloss

This two-second trick will help to lip augmentation and draw attention to them. Grab your favorite clear lip gloss or a pick shade that matches your lipstick color, then apply a dab of the gloss onto the middle of both of your lips. The shimmery product picks up light, making your pout look fuller.

Try a plumping treatment

A plumping lip treatment delivers definition to the lip line and boosts hydration to enhance volume. There are tons of great plumping balms, glosses, and treatments out there they seriously work like a dream. After one application, you will notice a much fuller lip look.

Lip fillers

To lip augmentation, fillers are injected into the upper and lower lips. There are several different types of lip fillers, including Juvederm, Restylane, Voluma, and Perlane. Lip filler augmentation is an in-office procedure. During your consultation, your doctor will assess your lips and overall facial balance. Your doctor will take pictures of your lips to determine the symmetry and shape of your lips. Then your doctor will determine which areas of your lips need to be fuller and plumper.

For temporary lip augmentation, it is recommended to use Juvederm Ultra Plus since this filler has lidocaine. Lidocaine is numbing medication. After your doctor determines how much and where to inject the lip filler, you are ready to proceed. The lip filler augmentation procedure takes about fifteen to thirty minutes to complete. Lip filler augmentation is a quick procedure that you can even do over your lunch break. The patient can go home the day of the procedure.

Fat transfers for lip augmentation

A fat transfer for the lips is also a surgical procedure. Most cosmetic fat transfers involve removing fat from one area of your body, purifying and distilling the fat, and then injecting the fat into the desired area to augment your lips. In general, more fat is injected than seems necessary due to the fact that some fat cells will die off during the settling period. Fat transfers will produce results that last for several years and that feel like your natural lips.

Lip implants

One alternative to temporary lip fillers to lip augmentation, is to use implants, which is a more permanent option. During your lip consultation, your doctor will determine what size lip implant would be best. The implant insertion is an in-office procedure. First, the skin is sterilized around the surgical area. Next, the lips are anesthetized. Once the lips are numb, an incision is made in each corner of the mouth.

A tunnel in the lip is created, the implant is positioned underneath the lip fat and above the lip muscles. Once the implants are in place, the incisions are closed with one or two absorbable sutures.
