The puffer pants are the trend trousers of this autumn/winter
What if we told you puffer pants are replacing the puffer jacket this winter?
What if we told you puffer pants are replacing the puffer jacket this winter?
Yes, it’s true: puffer pants are a thing this winter – are you ready for the puffer pants trend? With the winter season finally on us, many of us find ourselves sacrificing style to keep warm, but we all know that outerwear isn’t always the sexiest thing to slip into when heading out for a night out on the town or festive activities in the city.
Luckily, we’re changing that narrative this winter because it is all about puffer pants this year. You know, the classic puffer pants you would use on the snow – but from the most glamorous fashion houses. Yes, that’s right! we’re heating the season up with puffer pants!
To be fair, before you judge, these are not your typical puffer pants your mother forced you to wear as a kid growing up. Celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Ciara have already turned the fashion faux pas into a fashion staple, both rocking designs from Moncler.
After 2020, fashion got down with comfort wear—sweatpants, joggers, lounge pants, and the like, so it was only a matter of time before puffer pants made their appearance on the runway as well. We have put together a list of the trendiest puffer pants you can get this winter to be as cool as ever.
Whether you’re outdoorsy or not, puffer pants might just be one of the most daring winter trends thus far, if you’re brave enough to try them. They’re a no-brainer for those who spend their time in the mountains or cold climates; the down quilt provides a whole new level of warmth that surpasses snow pants.
Of course, according to the runways, you can wear these pants just about anywhere—on a wind-whipped stroll in the city or on your way to the ski chalet. You can shop pairs from Miu Miu, Telfar, Eckhaus Latta, and Jil Sander, too. It is thought that fashion brands drew inspiration from performance brands making gear and equipment for the outdoors, such as The North Face, Holden, and Moncler, as well as outerwear-first fashion brands such as The Arrivals and Ienki Ienki which all have their own technical versions of the down pants.
Any of their options would make for an on-trend way to keep warm for this season’s après ski or low-temp outdoor social activities.
For AW21, Miu Miu turns to the slopes for inspiration. Presenting a lineup of cold-weather favourites, these wide-leg trousers are finished with an all-over quilted design for both warmth and style. The highlights of these (expensive) puffer pants are the diamond quilting, the feather down padding, the drawstring waist and the wide legs. These pants come with two side slit pockets and a front zip fastening, for a total of some 1200€.
The label’s Patch poem details the back of mid-rise, straight-leg pants designed with two-way zips at both legs that offer multiple styling options for the look. This mid rise, unisex, quilted pant has a straight cropped leg. Tonal double zippers at the side body allow the wearer to style the garment in a multitude of ways. Welt pockets at hips, cut in nylon, diamond quilted with batting, currently on sale on Eckhaus Latta’s website for 330€.
Reminiscent of classic army jacket liners, the Rudy jogger is a quilted, down-filled pant for real warmth and comfort during the colder months and out-of-the city exploration. Crafted from 100% technical nylon with a zip and snap closure, it has a classic fit and currently costs 300€.
The Arrivals HAELO Space Pack Pant is an ultralight packable eco-down pant constructed from 100% post-consumer textiles. The shell is made in 100% recycled, water-repellent, technical poly. The fill is 80gram Primaloft® eco-fill. Details of these pants include recycled hardware and a self-packing interior bag. These oversized pants are available for 150€ at the moment.
Telfar’s iconic Puff Sweatpant, combining the two most ubiquitous winter garments into a single must-have item and featuring the iconic TELFAR logo engineered into bands of quilted nylon puff. Destined for uniform status and available in two lengths. 100% Unisex, the Puff Sweatpant pairs with matching Puff Hoodie. 400€.
Insulated with the down filler, the Dunno Pants are extremely warm, waterproof and wind-resistant. They are the ideal partner to their jackets and vests lines. The bags are made by their design studio from the left-over materials used in their collections. Starting from 890€.
